REGISTERING
- Register with whatever name you wish. Once you have made an account, go to your profile and change your display name to your character's name so that it looks like this: John Doe in proper capitalization. If you need help, pm an admin or ask in the cbox, someone will be glad to help you.
- The great thing about Proboards... if you use the same email address for all your accounts then it will automatically link them so you can switch back and fort.. all you have to do is re enter your password/email address. So your accounts are automatically linked. If you think that something went wrong, let an admin know and we'll fix it or go to Proboards support to figure out why it's not working.
- When you claim a face, here's a few little things we don't allow... Personal portraits, dead celebrities, cartoon characters or youtubers/reality stars...Pick a living person, if you're playing a show's canon and they're also in another show, you may choose another but an admin must approve the change. No duplicates unless indicated in an application that they're identical twins or the portrayer actually plays two entirely different characters on two totally different or the same show, please? Unless you're a twin or your character happens to share a face with another canon and you're both canons, you shouldn't have the same face. So for all the original characters out there, once the face is gone, it's gone... Unless the person using it vacates it.
We don't want like five thousand Megan Foxes or Holland Rodens running around the city.If you're portraying a cartoon/Disney character, pick an actor or actress that best matches the vision you have in mind for a real life version of that character. If you need help, ask an admin. - Having characters related to show canons is fine here... If that canon is taken, however, at least ask the person playing the character if it's okay before you make the character. If the canon isn't taken when you make the character, when the canon is picked up, let them know. If they're not okay with it, don't pressure them into acknowledging it.. Think of it as a hurdle your character has to overcome, that one family member who refuses to acknowledge their existance. If you can't handle that, amend your application so that there's no connection. But never pressure another member into playing against your character just because you've made them related in your own mind, please? Ask first, it's the respectable thing to do.
- If you're taking up a wanted or adoptable character, you will not have to do an application. All you need to do is post in the thread of the character you want to take up, register with their first and last name and that's it! The hard part is done already! We do this so that needed and wanted characters will get filled quickly and it makes it easier when the process doesn't require an application and waiting on approval.
- If you make a girl, your next character has to be a guy and vice versa. This is just so that the male to female ratio stays even and nobody feels left out when it comes time to ship and plot with characters. Would you want to feel like the odd person out? I didn't think so. If you're caught with more of one than the other, an admin will tell you that your next x amount of characters must be of the opposite sex.
- Once you've registered and you've posted an application, claim your face / canon. And then you must wait for your app to be approved by an admin and your profile to be sorted into the appropriate group before you begin roleplay.Until your app has been approved don't post anywhere but in the claims and the rules, stating that you've read them and agree, please?
ROLEPLAYING
- Proboards TOS states that there can't be explicit content on the boards or they might be taken down. So all sexual scenes and mature themed threads must fade to black. We don't want the board taken down, do we? I didn't think so. So fade to black and tag anything with slightly adult themes.
- No one liners. We don't require a word count here, but a good rule of thumb is at least try to match your partner's response. Nobody wants to spend time on a well thought out reply to a thread and only get answered with "He laughed." or "She walked into the room".
- No pressuring people to thread or plot with you or respond to threads you're in with them. Lots of people are spontaneous roleplayers and that's totally fine. Pressuring people to do things with you is just plain rude and it makes people not want to come onto the site at all. If you are caught doing this, you will be warned. If warnings don't work you will be banned temporarily. If the temporary ban doesn't change things you'll be permanently banned. You can remind them if it's been a week and they've been on and posting in everything else, yes... But do not pressure them right after you've responded. Let them get to it when they're ready. People might not be feeling up to it right away. Pressure isn't good for anyone and roleplay is the way a lot of people, myself included, alleviate that pressure.
- No bullying. None at all. Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated and will result in a temporary or permanent ban if an admin is informed about it. Like it's been stated before. RP is an escape. People come on here to let everything go, to relieve stress and have fun. There is a person on the other side of the screen. Treat people how you want to be treated.
ADVERTISING
- We are a guest friendly, forum friendly ad site. Feel free to post your ad with us.
- Post your advertisement in the appropriate forum, if we haven't advertised with you, then post in first time. If you're linking back and we have advertised with you before, post in linking back. If you're a member with a site you want to advertise with us, post in the member site section.
- Members may bump their own ads once a week.
- If you need an admin to fix something in your ad, post it in the ooc chat box.
CHAT BOXES
- We have an IC chat box (bottom of page) and an OOC chat box (top of page). When using the IC chat box for quick roleplay, use your characters name please and thanks? In OOC, use your out of character alias.
- No advertising in the c box.
- No bullying or fighting in the c box.
- If you're being bullied in the c box, tell the admin so we can ban the user doing the bullying from using the c box. After two warnings you will be banned from the c box if you're caught or reported again as bullying in the c box. Again, cannot stress this enough, we want everyone to feel welcome and stress free here.
After you have read these rules, respond to the thread below with I Agree.
